The Sandra DeLucca Developmental Center, a Division of the City of Miami's Parks and Recreation Department
has been delivering recreational, leisure and daily living skills programs for children and adults with a
variety of disabilities since 1973. Programs are available for the participation for all persons with
disabilities within the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County.
The mission of the Sandra DeLucca Developmental Center is to provide persons with intellectual
and physical challenges equal access to community-based recreational, leisure, and cultural activities
and to enhance their quality of life and inspire confidence, self-esteem and foster independence.
Among the programs available are A.D.T. Adult Day Training
Program,GET FIT AND SUMMER CAMP,
MAGIC Miami's Accessible Guide to Inclusion in Our Community, and
Project SEARCH Miami.
Also, the disabilities division holds many special events each calendar year,
most are open to everyone in the disabled community and the average attendance
is over two hundred persons. These events provide our clients and other guest
with social opportunities not otherwise available. Each event is special for the
client and is themed to cover holiday celebrations, dance, sports, and cultural events.
Our annual fundraiser is a Golf Tournament held at the
International Links Melreese
Golf Course. This event provides a way for community leaders and supporters of the disabilities
division to gather and raise money for a worthy cause. Funds raised are used to purchase most
needed equipment, supplies and fund programs at our division and in other park locations.
