Please hold any garbage that does not fit into the 96 gallon container on the first collection day and place it out on the second day of collection.

Question

What happens to the container if I move or sell my property?

Answer
Every container is the property of the City of Miami, therefore DO NOT take the cart with you when you move, it is assigned to the specific address.

Question
What do I do with my grass clippings and leaves?

Answer
The City recommends helping preserve our environment by either mulching the grass or leaves into the yard or by participating in backyard composting. Mulching the yard waste and leaving it on the yard saves money on fertilizer and on water use. If you feel you must throw away your grass and leaves, it must be bagged and fit inside the green garbage container, or placed out on your regularly scheduled trash pick up day.

Question

Where should I store the green garbage container?

Answer
The container can be stored inside the garage or many people choose to store their cart along the side of their house out of public view or behind a fence.

Question
What if the container is too big for me to roll to the curb?

Answer
The containers are constructed and balanced so that most people can easily move a full cart to the curb. If you have any physical limitations or you are physically disabled, please consult your doctor and have their office send us or fax a current doctor’s letter indicating your limitation(s) and we will place you on our Special Collection List and we will pick up the container inside your yard.

Question
What if I have extra bulky trash to be disposed of and my pick up day has already passed?

Answer
You can hold the materials inside your property and place it out on your next scheduled bulky trash pick up day.
