New Fitness Court at Juan Pablo Duarte Park and New
Playground at Gerry Curtis Park Opens After
Environmental Remediation

(Miami, FL August 8, 2016) - On Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Commissioner Wifredo (Willy) Gort and the City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department will open a new fitness court at Juan Pablo Duarte Park. The Greenfields Outdoor Fitness equipment includes three ADA accessible pieces that allow for arm and core strength training. The equipment also includes 2-person Cross Country Ski, 4-person Leg Press and more.

At noon, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at Gerry Curtis Park to open the new playground. As part of the ongoing environmental remediation work at Gerry Curtis Park, a new playground with artificial turf, rubber play surfaces, and rubber mulch is now available for families to enjoy.

"The quality of life in our neighborhoods is improved by our Parks. The opening of the exercise equipment in Pablo Duarte Park and the new kiddie play ground in Curtis Park are going to be of great significance to our residents," said District 1 Commissioner Wifredo (Willy) Gort.

Fitness Court Project information: Greenfields Outdoor Fitness Equipment designed the area and Regal Contractor administered the project. Cost for the equipment and installation total $67,272.20.

Playground Project information: Design was performed by SCS Engineers and Harbor Construction served as the contractor. Total construction cost totaled $750,578.14, comprised of $135,774.10 for the playground and $614,804.04 in remediation costs.
