City of Miami Commissioner Francis Suarez Commends Florida House Vote to Bar Use of Red Light Cameras

(Miami, FL March 27, 2017) - City of Miami Commissioner Francis Suarez, who sponsored the City's resolution earlier this year encouraging the State Legislature to ban red light cameras, applauds the House of Representatives vote Thursday in Tallahassee barring the use of the cameras to monitor intersections. House Bill 6007 repeals the Mark Wandall Traffic Safety Act, removing the authorization of cities such as Miami to install and use red light cameras.

"I thank State Representatives Brian Avila and Blaise Ingoglia for their tireless efforts to get HB 6007 approved by the House," said Commissioner Suarez. "At the same time, I ask all the members of the Miami-Dade delegation for their help in getting similar legislation moving in the Senate in order to finally put an end to this abusive program that has taken away millions from hard-working families in the City of Miami and across the State of Florida."
