New Markets Tax Credits (NMTCs)
The New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) program is
nationally recognized for steering low interest,
private capital into distressed census tracts to
capitalize hard to fund commercial and
residential projects. In an effort to capture
this opportunity for the City of Miami, the
Economic Initiatives Division created a
Community Development Entity (CDE) called Miami
Economic Development Fund (MEDF).
MEDF’s purpose is to apply for and allocate
NMTCs. The CDE has collaborated with industry
experts to educate and connect our local
constituents to NMTC program opportunities. The
MEDF is preparing to apply for a Round VII
allocation of NMTCs. However, if you have an
eligible project in a qualifying census tract
within the City of Miami, we can also assist in
matching your project with an allocate seeking
projects within the Florida service area. Please
contact Marcus A. James majames@miamigov.com @
(305) 416-1429 to discuss your possibilities.
